Washington Man Gets Five Years in Prison for Threatening Trump Family, Jews
27-year old Chase Colasurdo of Kent, Washington is sentenced to five years in prison after making repeated violent threats against President Donald Trump on social media and threatening to kill Jews by attacking synagogues in Washington State.
Colasurdo was sentenced Friday 10/18/19 in U.S. District Court in Seattle to five years in prison and three years of supervised release for two counts of making interstate threats. Colasurdo made multiple online posts threatening members of President Trump’s family and media figures in Southern California and made threats to bomb synagogues.
Interspersed with numerous photos of guns and assorted firearms, Colasurdo’s sparse facebook page features illiterate rants against Donald Trump and the Trump family, as well as anti-semitic rants against Jews, and in celebration of 9-11 as “the greatest day of my life.”
Colasurdo was arrested May 1, 2019 after he attempted to purchase a firearm. At the sentencing hearing Chief U.S. District Judge Ricardo S. Martinez said, “Mental illness may explain the intensity, but it does not excuse the actions that he took or the threats that he made instilling fear in his victims.”
Colasurdo’s social media posts indicate he had recently broken up with a girlfriend prior to his arrest in May.
