Venezuela Shows Americans What All Those MRAP’s Are For: Running Over Civilians
Remember those tens of thousands of MRAP, (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles placed in the hands of Police Departments, Sheriff’s Offices and SWAT teams across the nation? Ever wondered how they might be used? Watch the video from Venezuela. And rest easy. I’m sure civil unrest in America will be handled differently.
After the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts had run their course, American civilians watched with interest as municipal law enforcement agencies took delivery of combat used and refurbished, new-to-you, military MRAP vehicles that look like overkill on four wheels for any reasonably foreseen law enforcement scenario. Those of us who raised concerns over military hardware in local law enforcement hands were reviled as kook fringe, tinfoil hat and all the rest of the epithets lofted at people who see the truth while others take naps and watch American Idol.
For a quick confirmation of the only logical application of MRAP capability in domestic deployment, Venezuela’s dumpster fire of a civilization offers all the proof necessary to see a preview of coming attractions on American soil. The video above shows dozens of Venezuelan civil patrol vehicles or MRAPS navigating riots, driving over piles of helpless and disarmed civilians and generally making mincemeat of a civil uprising of citizenry disgusted by social tyranny that has made them the poorest and most pitiable nation in South America.
So, watch that vaunted MRAP technology and brute force in action. Posse Comitatus should apply, regardless of whether military hardware is painted in American military olive drab or with the colors of your local police battalion. Any distinction in purpose is for fools.
