Money Shot: CNN’s Cooper Caught Kneeling at Watery Altar of Fake News
CNN Posterboy, Anderson Cooper “Takes a Knee,” for Fake News Compromise of MSM Credibility
There might be a cheap joke swirling in there somewhere. We won’t stoop to grasp it. But apparently, CNN’s Vanderbilt Family trust fund boy, Anderson Cooper, wasn’t beneath kneeling in the less than overwhelming flood waters at a chosen broadcast location to dramatize flooding impact for viewers at home. While the picture was actually taken in 2008 during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, its widespread dissemination now is doing no favors for a mainstream media already embattled for bias and distortion of fact.
The candid shot, which shows Cooper appearing to kneel in hip waders in water that reaches only just below the knees of his accompanying camera and technical crew has quickly become an internet sensation, capturing in microcosm everything that’s wrong with mainstream media news (and weather) coverage in the modern age.
The shot’s context and distribution mesh precisely with the present narrative when all things political, including weather coverage, appear to be slanted and stilted and framed for dramatic effect, either to bolster flagging ratings for the dinosaur outlets or as is usually the case, for opportunistic potshots at President Donald Trump for a growing laundry list of attempted criticisms, in this case, Trump’s favoritism for a fossil fuel boom and leftist apocalyptic cult worship at the world church of anthropogenic climate change.
Anderson Cooper’s kneeling worship at the altar of fake news was the second verse of a fake news outrage of Hurricane Florence coverage which began with an earlier video and picture of a Weather Channel correspondent leaning for life or death into Florence’s gale force winds, even as a nonchalant couple of pedestrians, clad in shorts and windbreakers strolled easily in the background.
Taken in tandem, the pair of fake news moments do nothing but further underscore the ongoing public tsunami of mistrust for mainstream media outlets that was quantified just after the 2016 Presidential election at 6%. (Gallup)
